About General
Iyengar Yoga Class
Iyengar yoga focuses on safety, precision, and alignment in yoga postures (asanas), supporting overall health and wellbeing.
Props like straps, blocks, and chairs make poses accessible to everyone – including beginners, those with injuries, or low fitness. For experienced practitioners, props add challenge and versatility to asanas.
Each class offers a fresh mix of postures, helping to keep your practice engaging and reduce the risk of injury.
A safe, methodical progression of yoga postures
Technique – precision, alignment and awareness in performing the yoga postures
Sequencing to develop strength, flexibility, stamina, concentration and relaxation
Clear demonstration and explanation by well-qualified teacher
Individual correction and adjustment by the teacher when necessary.
The general classes are structured for all abilities. All experiences are catered for. Gipe will guide you to achieve your goals. You will progress at a pace that suits you, and as your practice develops, Gipe will start to introduce pranayama – breath control, which will help to increase your, strength, fitness and mental health. Student with issues or doubts about suitability should contact Gipe first before attending class.
What can you expect at our yoga classes?
Yoga with resistance band and weights
Gipe’s Yoga, with resistance band and weights classes helps maintain posture and allows for smooth and controlled movements in your day-to-day life or your sports activity.
Combining yoga, light weights and resistance training can significantly improve your strength, your agility, flexibility, balance, coordination, and mental focus through dynamic poses, controlled slow movements, and mindfulness practices.
Yoga has major benefits for male and female fitness. Yoga is often thought of as an activity only for flexibility. However, flexibility trains you to adapt to a range of motions. Acclimatising one’s body to a range of motions leads to greater activation of more muscles, which in turn will help with your activity goals.
Although you may not be or cannot imagine being as bendy as yoga masters such as B K S Iyengar just increasing your range of movements by a small increment will help you to access more muscles and so develop the balance, speed, strength, coordination and greater reflexes you wish in your day-to-day life or your sports activity.
Gipe’s Yoga, light Weights and Resistance training classes are organised around a six or seven week termly booking.
